Overview

Areyou an excellent communicator with a passion for healthcare? We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward thinking administrator to be part of our Mental Health Team in Hereford.

This role is 30 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

In this important role, you'll use your knowledge, experience & expertise to provide essential support to our hard-working frontline NHS teams. A passion for excellent patient care is a must.

You will be a strong communicator supporting a wide range of people including patients and health care professionals. You will need to be responsive and adaptable to the needs of the service but be sure that your hard work will be making a real difference to our patients and service users every day.

Main duties of the job

Atypical day as an administrator may involve:

  • Maintaining patient records effectively and accurately.
  • Minuting MDT Meetings.
  • Answering the telephone.
  • General office duties such as typing, scanning, photocopying, printing.
  • Scheduling appointments/ minuting meetings.
  • Handling correspondence ingoing/outgoing mail.
  • Handling queries over the telephone and face to face from staff, patients, and external agencies.
  • Looking after the shared email inbox.
  • Assisting the team with various administrative tasks.
  • Performances related tasks.

Qualifications
  • Educated to academic Level 3 (e.g.: A-Level, NVQ3, OCR/RSA3, City and Guilds 3) in a Business/ Administration related subject or Educated to academic Level 2 (e.g. GCSE Grade A-C) with considerable recent NHS administrative experience and will be expected to undertake the relevant level 3 qualification on appointment to post.
  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
Skills and Abilities
  • Manage own workload and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats.
  • Ability to deal with non-routine activities such as answering queries, progress chasing and task-related problem solving.
  • Advanced keyboard skills Touch Typing.
  • Numerate.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to use initiative effectively.
  • Minute taking skills.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of a range of administrative and secretarial procedures and systems.
  • Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Packages.
Experience
  • Recent, relevant Administrative/Secretarial experience (usually demonstrated by a minimum of 2 years experience).
  • Minute taking experience.
