Job Description
SEND Teaching Assistant

Weymouth, Dorset. Do you believe the right support can transform a child's future? Are you passionate about helping children feel safe, understood, and ready to learn? We are working with a well regarded mainstream primary school in Weymouth that wants to appoint a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join their brand new SEND hub. The school supports pupils with SEN and complex needs, following the Norfolk Model to provide structured, nurturing, and individualised support. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a vital role in helping pupils feel secure, build trusting relationships, and develop the confidence they need to succeed - both academically and emotionally - within a supportive and inclusive environment.

Your role and impact
  • Providing tailored 1:1 support for pupils with SEN and SEMH needs
  • Adapting learning activities and support strategies to meet individual needs
  • Creating a calm, safe, and nurturing environment that promotes engagement and emotional wellbeing
  • Using sensitive behaviour management and de escalation techniques to support regulation and learning
  • Encouraging positive relationships, social interaction, and participation in school life
  • Monitoring progress and celebrating achievements, recognising every step forward
  • Supporting the preparation of personalised learning resources
We are looking for someone who
  • Has experience working with children in education or SEND settings
  • Is patient, empathetic, and resilient, with a genuine commitment to supporting children's wellbeing
  • Communicates confidently and builds strong, trusting relationships
  • Works well independently while contributing positively to a team
  • Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent) - desirable but not essential

Pay: £92 - £97 per day

Part time 4 days per week (Not Wednesday)
