Job Description

Teaching Assistant - (SEN) Chester - from £13.79 per hour, 8:30am until 3 4:30pm, Monday - Friday. Axcis Education is working in partnership with a SEND school in the Chester area that is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to support the daily running of the classroom. The successful candidate may also provide one to one support for pupils with additional needs within the class. This role is ideal for graduates looking to use their transferable skills, as well as individuals wishing to start a career in education and who can demonstrate initiative, a positive attitude and genuine enthusiasm for supporting pupils with special educational needs.

Key responsibilities
  • Support and supervise pupils with challenging behaviour.
  • Help pupils with their personal care needs and offer guidance on social skills, health and hygiene.
  • Take part in assessing pupils to identify those who may need extra help or support.
  • Assist in providing tailored support for pupils with additional needs.
  • Build positive one to one mentoring relationships with pupils and offer emotional support to those who are upset or struggling.
What we need from you
  • At least 6 months personal or professional experience supporting adults or children with special educational needs; OR a certified qualification in a relevant area (education, psychology, drama, etc.).
  • A graduate teaching assistant with a patient, compassionate and positive attitude.
  • Flexibility to work in school hours; contracts are usually 8:30am until 3 4:30pm depending on the school.
  • Ability to reliably commute to the setting either by driving or public transport.

Salary / Pay Rate

Pay will be dependent on your skills and experience, starting from £13.79 per hour.
