Teaching Assistant - Secondary (SEMH & Behaviour Support)

Location: Nailsea - Pay Rate: £92.00 - £109.00 per day - Job Type: Full-time - Term Time Only (Temporary or Long-term) - Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm (Monday to Friday)

About the Role

We are seeking a committed and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a well established secondary school in Nailsea, supporting students who require additional behavioural and emotional support to succeed. This is a rewarding and varied role supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4, both on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. You will work closely with pupils who may present with challenging behaviour and SEMH needs, helping them to engage positively with learning and school life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour
  • Support students in accessing lessons, staying engaged, and managing their behaviour
  • Build strong, trusting relationships to encourage positive choices and emotional development
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and follow individual support plans
  • Work closely with teaching staff, SENCO, and pastoral teams
  • Support students during transitions, breaktimes, and throughout the school day
  • Help create a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold safeguarding and confidentiality at all times
