Protocol Education is working with a welcoming primary school in Gateshead to recruit a full-time Teaching Assistant to support within a KS1 classroom. This is a fantastic opportunity within Teaching Assistant jobs in Gateshead for someone who enjoys working closely with young children.

About the role:

You'll work alongside the class teacher to support learning, behaviour, and development across the classroom, helping pupils build confidence and independence.

What your day-to-day will look like:

Your day may begin by welcoming pupils into the classroom, helping them settle and feel ready to learn. Throughout the day, you will:

  • Support small group activities in phonics, reading, and maths
  • Sit alongside pupils during lessons to reinforce understanding
  • Help manage routines and transitions
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, becoming a trusted adult
What we're looking for:
  • A positive, patient, and proactive individual
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for working with children
  • Experience is helpful but not essential
Working hours:
  • Monday to Friday
  • 8:30am - 3:30pm
  • Full-time, term-time only

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
