Protocol Education is working with a welcoming primary school in Gateshead to recruit a full-time Teaching Assistant to support within a KS1 classroom. This is a fantastic opportunity within Teaching Assistant jobs in Gateshead for someone who enjoys working closely with young children.
About the role:You'll work alongside the class teacher to support learning, behaviour, and development across the classroom, helping pupils build confidence and independence.
What your day-to-day will look like:Your day may begin by welcoming pupils into the classroom, helping them settle and feel ready to learn. Throughout the day, you will:
- Support small group activities in phonics, reading, and maths
- Sit alongside pupils during lessons to reinforce understanding
- Help manage routines and transitions
- Encourage positive behaviour and engagement
- Build strong relationships with pupils, becoming a trusted adult
- A positive, patient, and proactive individual
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for working with children
- Experience is helpful but not essential
- Monday to Friday
- 8:30am - 3:30pm
- Full-time, term-time only

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
