Northeastern University London (NU London) seeks Teaching and Learning assistants to support the delivery of its Global Experience programmes. The role sits centrally within Teaching & Learning and operates across the full breadth of the Global Experience programmes. The postholders will work flexibly across faculties to support the operational and logistical dimensions of teaching and learning, enabling faculty to focus on pedagogical and academic work. No subject-specialist knowledge is required; what is required is academic experience, reliability, attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and a genuine commitment to student experience.
Location: London, Devon House / Portsoken. Term: Full-time, Fixed Term (1 year). Salary Range: Teaching Assistant (G6) £37,960 to £41,461, progressing to £42,701 per annum for 1.0 FTE once in post. Key Responsibilities- Assessment Support: Run in-class assessments (timed tasks, structured in-class exams, supervised written activities). Assist with administration and marking of MCQ assessments using provided answer sheets, scanning or machine-marking equipment, in coordination with the Assessment team. Prepare, collate, print, distribute, and collect non-examination assessment materials (e.g., assignment briefs, in-class task sheets) with faculty and the Assessment team. Support accessibility arrangements during assessments (additional time provisions) in liaison with relevant colleagues and services.
- Teaching and Learning Operations: Provide logistical support to faculty delivering experiential and co-curricular activities, including session mechanics (timings, group rotations, polling tools, room configuration, AV and technology checks).
- Canvas and Learning Technology Support: Provide first-line Canvas support (basic course shell checks against templates, troubleshooting assessment setup or gradebook issues). Escalate technical or configuration queries to the Canvas Manager as appropriate, in coordination with the VLE Manager.
- Student Experience and T&L Administration Support: Contribute to smooth planning and running of US credit courses; support student relations and collect student feedback in coordination with T&L and GE teams.
- Master's degree, or equivalent professional experience, in a relevant area. PhD completed, near completion, or equivalent professional experience (desirable).
- AFHEA status, or equivalent, achieved or expected (desirable).
- Experience working in a higher education environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities across different teams and settings.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow procedural instructions.
- Confident and professional communication with students and academic staff.
- Comfort with digital tools and platforms, including Canvas.
- Ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced, student-facing environment.
