Family Care is a small family-owned organisation providing specialist SEN education, fostering and residential care across the North West and West Midlands. We are committed to supporting vulnerable children and young people through nurturing, therapeutic services that have a lasting impact on their lives.

At Rodenhurst School, relationships come first. We are a small, specialist school supporting children and young people whose needs mean that mainstream education has not always been the right fit. Our pupils present primarily with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, alongside Autism, ADHD and demand-avoidant (PDA) profiles. Many of our pupils require a calm, flexible and therapeutic approach in order to feel safe enough to learn.

Rodenhurst provides a nurturing, structured environment where staff work closely together to support pupils both academically and emotionally. We believe that progress looks different for every child and value growth in confidence, communication, regulation and independence as much as academic achievement.

We are seeking an innovative and reflective teacher to deliver a primary-model curriculum to mainly KS3 pupils. Classes are small (no more than six pupils), with consistent Learning Support Assistant support, allowing teachers the time and space to build strong relationships and adapt learning to individual needs.

Situated in the Shropshire countryside, our setting enables outdoor learning to form a meaningful part of the school day. Pupils benefit from access to forest school, outdoor learning spaces and a calm environment that supports regulation and engagement.

About the Role

You will:

  • Deliver engaging, personalised learning across a range of subjects
  • Adapt teaching approaches to support pupils with SEMH, Autism, ADHD and PDA profiles
  • Use therapeutic and low-arousal approaches to support engagement and regulation
  • Work collaboratively with LSAs and the wider team to meet pupils' individual needs
  • Recognise and celebrate small-step progress in learning and wellbeing
What we offer

In addition to a pleasant working environment we offer :

  • Salary of up to £39,900 per annum
  • A supportive and dedicated team
  • Small class sizes and high levels of adult support
  • Excellent induction and ongoing professional development
  • The opportunity to be part of a values led, growing organisation
  • Company pension scheme
  • Health and wellbeing support
What we are looking for
  • Is an excellent classroom practitioner with a flexible and reflective approach
  • Understands the importance of relationships and emotional safety in learning
  • Has experience, or a strong interest, in working with pupils with SEMH and neurodivergent profiles
  • Can engage pupils who may present with anxiety, avoidance or disengagement
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Can teach across a range of subjects using a primary model
  • Has at least one year of teaching experience

  • Permanent
  • Full time, 37.5 hours per week
  • Term time only +5 inset days
