INFORMATION ABOUT THE POST

The Board of Governors of Hunterhouse College invites applications for the position of full-time, Teacher of Physical Education, to commence in January 2027. This post is to provide maternity leave cover and is expected to span the Spring and Summer Terms of the 2026/27 academic year, with the potential for extension beyond this period.

Salary: Main Scale.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential Criteria

1. An Honours degree in a subject that the appointments panel considers appropriate for the post (minimum classification 2.2).
2. Qualified teacher status as recognised by the Department of Education (NI) as of August 2026.
3. Experience in a post-primary school teaching Physical Education (teaching practice accepted).

Desirable Criteria

1. An Honours degree in a subject that the appointments panel considers appropriate for the post (minimum classification 2.1).
2. Experience in a post-primary school teaching Health & Social Care to A Level (teaching practice accepted).
3. Willingness to contribute to the school's extra-curricular programme including sporting fixtures.

The Board of Governors reserves the right to enhance the essential criteria if necessary in order to facilitate a manageable shortlist.

On taking up the post the successful candidate must be a registered teacher with the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland (GTCNI).
