Job Description

South Hampstead High School has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, energetic and inspiring full-time PE Teacher to join our hugely successful PE Department on a maternity cover basis.

As a Teacher of PE, you will deliver high-quality Physical Education lessons to highly motivated and talented pupils from EYFS through to the Upper Sixth.

This role will involve teaching and developing a wide range of sports and activities within the curriculum, which includes netball, football, dance, gymnastics, athletics, cross-country and cricket, as well as contributing to our extensive extra-curricular programme.

We are seeking an experienced teacher with a proven track record of excellent PE teaching, or a well-qualified graduate or ECT with a passion for sport who is looking to begin a rewarding career in teaching.

The PE Department

There are currently 7 full-time and 4 part-time staff and around 8 external instructors in the Physical Education Department. Each member of the department is expected to teach all areas of the curriculum as well as teaching both Junior and Senior School PE (EYFS to Sixth Form).

This, along with our excellent facilities, enables the school to offer a wide variety of opportunities for all pupils from Reception to the Sixth Form, which helps to pursue our aim of sport for all. We also aim to pursue excellence and girls compete at a high standard in a variety of sports. To further enrich the experiences of our pupils, we run several weekend trips, as well as short and long-haul tours. Recent trips have included netball tournament weekends in Shropshire, an athletics weekend in Nottingham and a sports tour to Spain.
