Job Description
Teacher of Food Technology

Location: 2300 - Stoke Damerel Community College

Job type: Full time teaching.

We are recruiting for a Teacher of Food Technology to join our staff team at Stoke Damerel Community College and Scott Medical and Healthcare College Campus. The successful candidate will motivate, challenge, support and inspire our students. They must also have relevant experience in a similar role with a proven track record and the ability to teach the Hospitality and Catering GCSE WJEC course.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and deliver a broadly balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students, and support a designated curriculum area as appropriate.
  • Work within the Food Technology department to contribute to raising student achievement and the continued development of the department.
  • Teach Food Technology, Hospitality and Catering curriculum across years 7-11.
  • Monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher/tutor.
  • Facilitate and encourage learning experiences that provide students with the opportunity to accelerate their learning.
  • Contribute to raising standards of student attainment across the school.
  • Share and support the school's responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.
  • Undertake a designated programme of planning and teaching across all key stages (KS3, 4 and 5) and maintain consistently high quality lessons.
  • Act as a role model for students, inspiring them to be actively interested in the subject.
  • Ensure effective deployment of classroom support.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the school procedures, encouraging good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and home learning.
  • Lead, monitor and evaluate assessment and feedback to students in line with whole school and department policy.
  • Follow department monitoring and tracking systems related to student attainment, progress and achievement.
  • Mark, grade and provide written, verbal and diagnostic feedback as required.
  • Assess students as requested by external examination bodies and curriculum areas.
  • Record and report on attendance, progress, development and attainment of students and keep required records.
  • Update professional knowledge and expertise to stay current with developments in teaching practice and methodology.
  • Liaise with pastoral leaders to ensure the implementation of the Student Support system.
  • Prioritise and manage time effectively, ensuring continued professional development in line with the role.
  • Adhere to the school policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Successful experience of teaching Food Technology in a previous school or placement.
  • Experience of teaching to at least GCSE level.
  • Experience of teaching the Hospitality and Catering GCSE WJEC course.
  • Experience of driving improvement across a current school area.
  • Degree and QTS.
  • Quality of teaching rated at least good.
