Job Description

English Teacher - Northampton Full Time September 2026 Start Salary: Dependent on Experience Hours: 37.5 per week.

This is an exciting opportunity to inspire secondary aged students through the teaching of English within a supportive and ambitious school environment.

The Role
  • Plan and deliver high quality English Language and Literature lessons.
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive.
  • Monitor, assess and track student progress to ensure excellent outcomes.
  • Support students of all abilities, adapting teaching to meet individual learning needs.
  • Promote high standards of behaviour, engagement and achievement.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and the continued success of the English department.
  • Participate in enrichment activities and contribute to the wider life of the school.
The Ideal Candidate
  • A good honours degree in English or a related subject.
  • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS or equivalent).
  • Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring a love of English.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • A commitment to delivering outstanding teaching and learning.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues and parents.
  • Evidence of recent and relevant professional development.
