The role:
We are seeking a proactive and commercially astute Tax Manager to serve as a key advisor to our UK and Ireland businesses. Reporting to the UK&I Tax Director, you will be instrumental in navigating the tax landscape across the UK and Ireland, ensuring robust compliance while actively collaborating with our businesses to drive value, find opportunities and support critical initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Business Partnering & Advisory: Partner with the UK&I Tax Director to provide expert tax guidance and strategic support to the UK&I businesses and the wider organization, acting as a trusted consultant.
- Compliance & Governance Oversight (Indirect Tax Focus): Oversee the integrity of our tax control framework and procedures. This includes managing direct and indirect tax compliance, with a significant focus on VAT and also Corporation Tax. You will manage processes carried out by the in-house team, shared services centre, and coordinate external partners.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships, rapport, and trust with internal stakeholders and external advisors, facilitating seamless cross-functional delivery.
- Project Leadership: Provide dedicated, holistic tax support on high-value, ad-hoc projects, business transactions, and change initiatives.
- Global Policy Execution: Manage and ensure adherence to Group transfer pricing methodologies and implement Group tax strategies across the UK&I entities.
- Reporting Excellence: Oversee tax-related processes for group and statutory accounts reporting, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
- Authority Management: Support the Tax Director in maintaining the relationship with UK/Irish Tax Authorities, proactively managing enquiries and queries.
Requirements:
- Experience & Qualification: Extensive tax experience gained within a multinational organization (in-house tax or finance function with strong tax exposure) or a reputable professional services firm. A professional qualification in accounting or tax (eg, ACA, ACCA, CTA) is essential.
- Technical Foundation: A solid and demonstrable expert understanding of UK and Irish VAT regulations, as well as strong knowledge of UK Corporation Tax and accounting principles.
- Collaboration & Communication: Exceptional communication skills-both written and verbal-with the proven ability to articulate complex tax concepts clearly and concisely to non-tax stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Influence & Execution: Strong project management, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, with a track record of successfully managing complex projects and working collaboratively to achieve business outcomes.
- Systems Proficiency: Familiarity with key business systems (eg, SAP, Google/Microsoft applications).
