About the Role:

Liberty International Insurance (LII) is seeking a highly motivated Tax Compliance & Reporting Assistant Manager to join our dynamic Tax Department. Reporting to the Tax Compliance & Reporting Senior Manager, you will provide comprehensive direct tax compliance and reporting services, focusing primarily on UK and European jurisdictions with future expansion into Asia Pacific, South and Central America. This role requires UK corporation tax knowledge, effective communication skills, and the ability to coordinate European branch tax returns with external advisors.

About the Department & Team:

The London Tax Department is comprised of a dynamic team of tax professionals managing Liberty's global risk solutions international (GRSi) internal tax matters and compliance processes as well as supporting other internal functions and businesses across Liberty's global insurance and reinsurance network.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare UK corporation tax computations and oversee European branch tax returns, coordinating with third-party advisers.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and year-end tax reporting in accordance with US GAAP, UK GAAP, and Luxembourg GAAP.
  • Monitor and control tax payment processing, review tax service invoices, Statements of Work, and manage the department's mail inbox.
  • Oversee tax ledger reconciliations, controls, and propose tax journals for all entities and branches.
  • Prepare Corporate Interest Restriction forecasts and submissions.
  • Assist with Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCr) submissions and Withholding Tax return processes.
  • Provide ad-hoc support on tax-related projects such as PSA, R&D credits, UK GPA, tax planning, and forecasting.
  • Support the wider tax team and business units on general direct tax matters.
  • Stay informed of relevant tax legislative developments and regulatory changes.
  • Ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements, including Solvency II, fair treatment of customers, financial crime, data protection, conflicts of interest, and whistleblowing policies.
  • Demonstrate conduct in line with LII's commitment to integrity, risk management, and treating customers fairly.
  • Assist with the development and documentation of LII's tax compliance processes.
  • Assist with internal and external tax reporting requirements.
  • Support the delivery of tax opportunities and compliance improvements.
  • Stay current with relevant tax legislative developments across all jurisdictions.
  • Demonstrate personal accountability, professionalism, and alignment with Liberty's values and business priorities as part of a high performing tax function.
Skills and Experience
  • Newly qualified ACA, ACCA, or CTA professional preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of UK direct tax compliance.
  • Experience in Financial Services industry or a large accountancy firm is advantageous.
  • Strong UK corporation tax and tax compliance knowledge.
  • Understanding of UK accounting standards (FRS102) and US GAAP reporting is desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively across teams.
  • Familiarity with SAP is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of a second language is helpful but not essential.
  • Strong team player capable of building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
