Essential qualifications:

  • Qualified to at least Level 2, such as:
  • 4 GCSEs at grade D or above (grade C or above in maths).

  • Listening and speaking - intermediate level in Welsh and English.
  • Reading and comprehension - intermediate level.
  • Writing - intermediate level.
Job Description

Purpose of the post:

  • Gain practical experience and support in the workplace to complete a Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship.
  • Participate in collecting local taxes, supporting statutory letting and billing processes, assisting with arrears recovery, processing benefit claims, and maintaining revenue systems.

Main duties:

  • Receive training to Front Line Tax Officer level and develop knowledge of local taxes.
  • Work on a frontline service to administer and collect Council Tax and non taxes.
  • Respond to enquiries from the public via letters, telephone, e mail, and face to face.
  • Process requests to modify accounts, exemptions, discounts, and payment agreements.
  • Support the arrears recovery procedure and prepare documents for the courts.
  • Assist in the assessment and verification of housing benefit, council tax reduction and education benefit applications.
  • Support the administration of other levies and maintain revenue and support systems.
  • Follow Council policies on health and safety, equality, data protection and carbon reduction.
