System Support Engineer
Derbyshire (UK-wide travel required)
Circa £35,000

Rise10 are working with a specialised engineering company focused on the integration, control, and automation of complex infrastructure.
This is a hands-on, field-based role that will involve extensive travel across the UK, frequent overnight stays, and participation in night shift work when required. Main Duties:
- System Support: Provide top-notch technical support to clients by responding to inquiries, troubleshooting system issues, and resolving problems swiftly to minimise downtime.
- Site-Based Work: Attend client sites across the UK to carry out installations, commissioning, fault finding, and system recovery.
- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections, system audits, and preventive maintenance to ensure the seamless operation and reliability of control systems.
- Fault Finding and Diagnostics: Utilise advanced troubleshooting techniques and diagnostic tools to identify and resolve complex system faults effectively.
- System Optimisation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement system modifications, upgrades, and enhancements, boosting performance and functionality.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of system configurations, maintenance activities, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Training and Support: Deliver on-site training and support to end-users and maintenance teams.
Working Pattern & Travel Requirements:
- Based at our client's HQ in Derbyshire, with regular travel to customer sites nationwide
- Frequent overnight stays required (expenses covered)
- Night shifts and out-of-hours work will be required, particularly during commissioning, shutdowns, and critical upgrades
- Standard 40-hour working week with flexible hours
- Early finish on Fridays
- Participation in an on-call rota following probation/training
- This role would suit someone who is flexible, comfortable working away from home, and able to adapt to varying site schedules.
Skills and Experience:
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- Previous technical support experience for control systems or similar
- Proficiency in PLC programming languages (e.g. ladder logic, structured text)
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and HMI design
- Knowledge of control system protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP)
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
