Posted 4 hours 49 minutes ago by Consortium for Clinical Research and Innovation Singapore
The Switchgear Engineer (HV & MV) is responsible for supporting the engineering, technical coordination, and execution of high voltage and medium voltage switchgear projects in Singapore. This role provides technical support across the project lifecycle, including design review, engineering coordination, procurement technical clarifications, installation support, testing coordination, commissioning readiness, and final handover documentation. The Switchgear Engineer works closely with Project Managers, OEMs, clients, consultants, and internal site teams to ensure switchgear systems are delivered in compliance with OEM requirements, Singaporestandards, client specifications, and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Engineering & Technical Coordination: Support HV/MV switchgear projects from engineering phase through to commissioning and handover. Review and coordinate technical deliverables including single line diagrams, general arrangement drawings, wiring diagrams, protection interface drawings, and equipment datasheets. Coordinate technical interfaces between switchgear, protection relays, SCADA/RTU, and auxiliary systems.
- Design Review & Compliance: Review OEM technical documents and ensure compliance with project specifications, IEC standards, and Singapore utility requirements (e.g., SP Group standards where applicable). Support technical clarifications with clients, consultants, and OEMs during design and execution stages.
- Procurement Technical Support: Support procurement activities including technical evaluation of switchgear offers, review of technical deviations, clarification of scope, and coordination of spare parts, special tools, and warranty requirements. Support vendor coordination for manufacturing progress updates and documentation submission.
- Installation & Site Support: Provide technical support to the Installation team during switchgear erection, busbar installation, cabling, control wiring, termination, and site interface works. Support troubleshooting of site installation issues and ensure proper implementation of method statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) as well as quality records.
- Testing & Commissioning Support: Coordinate and support Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), Site Acceptance Test (SAT) and commissioning activities. Ensure required test procedures, test records, and acceptance criteria are prepared and complied with. Support coordination with HV testing teams and OEM engineers for energization readiness.
- Quality Documentation & Handover: Support preparation and closeout ofproject documentation including as-built drawings, test reports, inspection records, O&M manuals, spares lists, and warranty documents. Ensure documentation is compiled in accordance with client handover requirements.
- Safety & Compliance Support: Support compliance with company Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) policies, Singapore safety regulations, and client site rules. Participate in risk assessments, toolbox meetings, and ensure technical work is executed with strong safety discipline.
- Continuous Improvement: Support development of engineering standards, templates, and lessons learned. Contribute to improvement of installation and commissioning procedures to reduce rework and improve quality.
- Diploma or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in electrical infrastructure projects involving HV/MV switchgear.
- Exposure to either 22kV / 6.6kV MV switchgear or 66kV / 230kV / 400kV HV switchgear (Air Insulated Switchgear / Gas Insulated Switchgear) and experience supporting installation, testing, and commissioning activities in Singapore is strongly preferred.
- Good working knowledge of HV/MV switchgear systems, drawings, and OEM documentation.
- Ability to coordinate technical interfaces across protection, SCADA/RTU, and auxiliary systems.
- Familiarity with FAT/SAT procedures and commissioning readiness requirements.
- Strong technical writing skills for method statements, ITPs, and handover documentation.
- Familiarity with Singapore electrical safety practices, codes, and WSH requirements.
- Strong stakeholder communication and coordination skills.
