Job Description
Overview

A family in Whitsome is looking for a support worker to join their team providing weekly termtime assistance to two children and their mother. The role involves accompanying the children to activities such as dance and drama classes. Both children are autistic - the 12-year-old also has ADHD and OCD, while the 8-year-old is active and talkative. The position is for approximately 7 hours per week, which may be split between different support workers if necessary. There may be opportunity for extra hours for the right person.

Terms
  • Hours per week: Up to 14 hours
  • Hours of work: Monday OR Thursdays for 3 hours between 11am/5pm (there is flexibility around this), Wednesday 4.30pm/9pm, Sunday 9am/5pm
  • £14.85 per hour.
  • Paid annual leave entitlement of 5.6 weeks pro rata
  • Post subject to references and PVG statement.
  • Probationary period of 3 months
Job Description Main Tasks & Responsibilities
  • To support one/both young people to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • To develop a positive relationship with the young people and their family.
  • To interact with the clients and keep them entertained with activities they enjoy, including being able to take them to and from various classes.
  • To accompany the clients on short trips out of the house for appointments or social activities.
  • To ensure meals are factored in when out and any expenditures will be reimbursed.

Skills and Experience
  • A car driver and use of a vehicle is essential as this role will require the employee to drive the children around to various activities.

  • First Aid training: can be provided if necessary

Experience is not essential for a candidate with the right personal attributes, but they should be able to show some suitability for the role, and it would be of benefit to have a knowledge of the local area.
