The Community Forensic Service is currently recruiting male staff in order to maintain equity of its staffing establishment and due to the requirements of the Male only patient group.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Support Time and Recovery Worker to join the Community Forensic Service.
Main duties of the jobThe purpose of this post is to work as part of the Enhanced Support time and Recovery Team, and the Rehabilitation and recovery service, which provide mental health services to those individuals who have complex needs, and to focus on the direct needs of the service users. They will:
- Provide support and give time to an allocated group of service users, and promote their recovery supporting their return to a community environment, or supporting them to maintain their place in the community
- Support service users to meet their identified needs and outcomes, paying attention to and respect their values, wishes and aspirations to lead their lives in the way they choose, supporting them to access community resources and services, such as housing, benefits, leisure, education and employment
- Assist the Rehabilitation and recovery service and the ESTR team to assess, plan, implement and evaluate mutually agreed goals and recovery plans.
- Work with the service users to further develop personalised and detailed outcomes and goals.
- Be able to work independently with service users, responding safely and flexibly to changing needs.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications- Certificate in Community Mental Health Care / NVQ Level 3 in care or agreed equivalent Communicate to undertake CPD Good literacy and numerical skills
- An awareness of issues affecting mental health service users Knowledge of approaches to working with mental health service users A knowledge of housing and welfare benefits, housing issues and related employment and educational issues Experience working within a team Experience of monitoring and recording information
- An ability to demonstrate self motivation An ability to assess and evaluate individual needs to enable service users to make informed decisions An ability to analyse complex information concerning mental health issues and housing, finance issues Good communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to represent the service user and the organisation. Ability to create innovative solutions to help empower service users Ability to acknowledge diversity and promote anti discriminatory practice / equal opportunities and cultural awareness Ability to recognise and support the personal resourcefulness of people with mental illness
- The ability to participate in clinical supervision, individually and as a group Strong interpersonal skills, to advise and support service users The ability to engage with, and develop a therapeutic relationship with service users based on trust and respect The ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to provide practical support with daily living activities and to work in a way that enables the service user to regain/retain personal responsibility Basic IT skills
- NVQ Level 3 in management or agreed equivalent. Qualifications in Health, Social and Care, Housing, Finance, Psychology
- Experience of working with individuals with complex needs, i.e mental health and substance misuse within inpatient or community settings A clear grasp of the values and principles underpinning recovery and the way that rehabilitation services can continue Experience of working to an agreed support plan Knowledge of community care and mental health legislation Knowledge of local and national resources for service users
- Administrative and organisational skills The ability to demonstrate risk awareness and be able to respond flexibly and sensitively to changing needs Stress Management Time Management
- A knowledge of housing and welfare benefits, housing issues and related employment and educational issues
