Job Description
Support Secretary, Nephrology 
Working 30 hours per week providing administrative support to the Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) nursing team, consultants, specialty registrars and other renal medicine staff at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

Key Responsibilities- Support the AKI nursing team by organising clinic appointments.
- Typing of outpatient clinic letters and other official correspondence.
- Dealing with enquiries from clinicians, GPs, other hospitals, patients and relatives.
- Updating medical records and collating data to support the Midlands Renal Network and division targets.
- Track and validate patient pathways to help achieve national 18 week Referral to Treatment (RTT) target.
- Provide day to day support to the Renal admin team including typing and correspondence.
- Use the PAS system to establish patient information and produce documentation.
- Assist in cover for other secretaries in the Medical Directorate to ensure continuity of service.
- Photocopying, collating, sorting mail and other general office duties.
- Sorting day to day incoming mail and taking action or referring back to senior secretaries or nurses where necessary.
- Standard medical audio/copy typing duties, including outpatient letters to GPs, discharge summaries and other official correspondence.
- Accurately collate and input data for the Midlands Renal Network.
- Answer enquiries from clinicians, GPs, Health Service and Social Services personnel, hospitals, voluntary agencies, patients and relatives. Phone contact is an integral part.
- Book patients into clinics in a timely and efficient manner, issue correspondence and contact patients when required.
- Assist with use of the PAS system to produce patient documentation.
- Cover for other secretaries in the Medical Directorate where required.
- Additional duties as delegated by senior secretaries or directorate support manager.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexible and adaptable.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Independent initiative and capable of working as part of a team.
- GCSE English & Maths or equivalent.
- Recognised word processing/typing qualification.
- Shorthand qualification (preferred).
- Experience working in a busy office.
- Experience within the NHS.
- Experience using the OASIS PAS system.
- Medical secretarial experience.
- In depth working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of NHS systems.
