Job Description

Hours: Monday-Sunday 37.5 (Participation in management on-call rota required). Location: Salford.

InHealth sees more than 5 million patients each year and diagnostic imaging is one of the busiest services that we provide. Following the Michael Richards report, the organisation is partnering with the NHS to develop new Community Diagnostic Centres to increase accessibility for patients in the community.

This role is for a Superintendent Radiographer who will support the Service Manager, manage the team of Radiographers and work clinically. The position supports the CT and MRI team; experience and knowledge in both modalities is desirable.

Main responsibilities
  • Operate in accordance with local guidelines and company policies to deliver a service aligned to contractual and governance requirements.
  • Support staff, provide clinical leadership and deputise for the Service Manager when required.
  • Balance clinical shifts with support tasks for the Service Manager, including day to day running of the unit.
  • Undertake MRI, CT and X ray scans in line with modality specific clinical guidelines and protocols.
  • Ensure the service delivers the highest standard of patient care whilst meeting customer expectations.
  • Maintain the building, keeping it clean and compliant with IPC standards, and report any issues to the Service Manager.
  • Assist with rota planning to ensure sufficient staff availability and effective workforce planning.
  • Oversee day to day activity across a 7 day service.
  • Support the Service Manager in recruiting, inducting, training and supporting Radiography, Respirator and Phlebotomy staff.
  • Maintain effective communication with the team and all stakeholders.
  • Depute for the Service Manager where required and support ad hoc duties.
Qualifications and experience
  • BSc in diagnostic radiography or equivalent.
  • Valid HCPC registration.
  • Experience leading and coaching teams.
  • Good understanding of CQC fundamental standards, health & safety, infection control, data protection and Caldicott principles.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Strong organisational, time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Motivation to exceed expectations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience performing basic and complex MRI and CT procedures (specialisation in a single modality is acceptable).
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience with imaging equipment in hospital, community or mobile environments.
