WEST ABE is a consortium of educational sites within school districts and four county jails to help adults acquire basic skills. Monticello is the fiscal agent. For more information, visit

WEST is seeking licensed substitute instructors. Substitutes are needed Monday through Thursday on student contact days. As a substitute instructor, you set your availability and preferred work sites. Background check and annual online training required for this position. Duties include following established procedures and delivering planned lessons to adult learners when regular staff are unavailable.

Certification and Experience

Current short call substitute license or standard teaching license for the State of Minnesota.
Previous experience teaching within an adult basic education program and working with diverse students and families.
