Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join our Substance Misuse team at HMP Winchester, a category B Prison located in Winchester.

HMP Winchester is a male remand prison based in Winchester with a capacity for 650 inmates.

Join the Recovery Team and empower those who wish to make changes in their behaviour to promote health and well being through recovery from drugs and alcohol. This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care. We are looking for someone with experience within substance misuse that can hit the ground running.

Hours

Monday - Friday 0800 - 1600

Salary

This position is full time; you'll receive an annual salary up to £33,510 per annum.

Main duties
  • Provide outstanding evidence based care to a case load of psycho social patients seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Provide a programme of psycho social interventions, along with information and advice on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cessation, blood borne viruses and safe sex practices.
  • Deliver non judgemental care on a one to one basis and through group work, supporting the nursing and pharmacy teams in primary care within healthcare centres and on wings and house blocks.
  • Make a real difference as defined throughout our bespoke HiJ competency framework following our policies, procedures and always considering safeguarding.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Relevant degree/qualification or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge and experience in the provision of structured psycho social interventions
  • Experience of working within the substance misuse multi disciplinary framework, that includes housing, social care, healthcare, and mental health pathways
  • A non judgemental and compassionate approach
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good IT skills and IT literacy
