Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join our team at Heathrow IRC.

Hours Monday - Friday: core office hours

Salary Annual salary up to £29,000 per annum, depending on experience. This position is full time.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and, due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

Main duties
  • Work with other team members to assess needs and risks of patients.
  • Provide evidence based care to a caseload of psychosocial patients, listening to and acting on their feedback to personalise care.
  • Deliver a programme of psychosocial interventions and give information and advice on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cessation, blood borne viruses and safe sex practices.
  • Provide non judgemental care one to one and through group work, supporting nursing and pharmacy teams in primary care within health care centres and on wings and house blocks.
  • Make a real difference in line with our HiJ competency framework, following policies, procedures and safeguarding principles.
Qualifications & experience
  • Evidence of CPD.
  • Relevant degree, qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in the provision of structured psychosocial interventions.
  • Experience of working within the substance misuse multi disciplinary framework, including housing, social care, healthcare and mental health pathways.
  • A non judgemental and compassionate approach.
  • Excellent communication skills.
