Job Description

Work to and within the Mackley Integrated Management System, company policies & procedures.

Ensure that the onboarding / pre-qualification of new Subcontractors is carried out to meet project requirements.

Continually review and update the supply chain database with on boarding of new Subcontractors as required.

Responsible for collating and sending out tender enquiry documents as required by both the estimating and commercial teams.

Manage and respond to any tender clarifications or queries during the tender period.

Full review of tender returns including tender comparisons and a technical and commercial review of any qualifications or clarifications issued within the responses.

Build, develop & maintain a network of strong relationships with key Subcontractors.

Carry out audits on Subcontractors as appropriate to ensure ongoing compliance with HSEQ and insurance requirements.

Liaise with project teams to monitor Subcontract performance throughout the project life cycle.

Manage a database of labour only suppliers and ensure compliance with off-payroll working rules.

Assist the Head of Dept in ensuring that department policies and Mackley subcontracts are updated with amendments to company procedures & policies & relevant government changes.

Review & ensure the relevant company procedures are complied with & assist in re-writing procedures as and when appropriate.

Ensure that accurate records are kept and retained and are accessible to relevant staff.

Ensure that directors and senior management are briefed and have sufficient support to monitor and react to any performance issues or financial risks relating to Subcontractors

Contribute to the detailed evaluation and development of direct reports in conjunction with Head of Dept.

P roactive and influential in the success of the company i.e. lead by example

Monitor performance standards & manage expectations of direct reports .Manage rewards, awards, grievance & disciplinary matters

Skills& Knowledge
  • Negotiating
  • QHSE legislation
  • Basic awareness / understanding of standard forms of construction contracts
  • Understanding of Tendering & Procurement processes
  • Managing people
  • Understanding of the certified management systems ISO 9001 -2015, ISO 14001- 2015 & ISO 45001, - 2018
Technology skills
  • Understanding of company computer based cost recording systems

Proven experience as a Subcontract buyer or Quantity Surveyor
