DetailsThe Students' Union are looking for Events Assistant to host events and activities. The roles cover a broad range of events including Karaoke and Bingo nights in the Plug & Tub, Arts and Craft activities in The Edge and trips to tourist destinations.
By joining our growing Events team, you will play a key part in supporting the Social Enterprise and Arts areas at Bath, build event management and communication skills, and receive training and development opportunities.
The Events Assistant role ensures that events run smoothly and successfully. They are responsible for:
- Hosting activities and events based on the SU calendar.
- Supporting weekly arts and craft activities in The Edge (no crafting experience necessary).
- Support shows and performances in The Edge through Ushering duties (when required).
- Hosting evening events in the Tub such as Karaoke and Bingo.
- Offering ideas and planning new events.
- Support promotional activities for the Plug & Tub including flyering and managing stalls.
- Supporting SU Flagship events such as Freshers Week and Snowball, checking tickets on the door.
- Supporting SU Trips to local destinations such as Oxford or Stonehenge.
- Support Pop-up shops for the SU Shop (when required).
- Working with SU staff, bar staff and Edge events staff, ensuring clear communication and problem solving.
- Providing excellent customer services, checking attendance and tickets and dealing with any queries and problems.
- Managing event resources effectively ensuring that each activity has the right equipment.
We are looking for up to five Events Assistants to cover a broad range of activities that will take place daytime, evenings and weekends both on and off campus. The roles are designed to fit around your University commitments but will involve regular shifts each week.
Criteria- Good leadership skills. You may be working alone during some activities.
- Good decision making and problem solving.
- Flexible and positive can do approach.
- Ability to get things done in a busy environment and/or under pressure.
- Availability to work evenings/weekends. This will be essential to the role.
- Confident, outgoing "people person".
- Proactive and motivated.
- Calm and polite manner.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to form and maintain effective working relationships.
- Some event management knowledge/experience.
- You will not need specific experience in art and craft activities, but you may bring a skill set that will be useful to developing the role.
- The role will involve a certain amount of manual handling related to the set up of events equipment and resources.
