Student Wellbeing Adviser
Posted 1 hour 25 minutes ago by University of Chester
An exciting part time (30 hours per week) opportunity has become available to join the well-established Wellbeing and Mental Health team in Student Services.
Do you have a passion for supporting others? Do you want to work with students to help them navigate their journey? Have you got a problem-solving focus with an ability to empower others with this skill?
Ideally, you will have worked in a similar role, whether that be in higher education or a wellbeing/support setting. A degree (or equivalent) and knowledge and understanding of the range of issues that impact higher education students is essential.
As a Student Wellbeing Adviser, you will provide advice, guidance and practical support to students experiencing personal, emotional and academic challenges. Successful candidates will have significant experience of managing a varied and high-volume caseload, prioritising effectively and responding flexibly to changing needs.
You will feel confident supporting students across a broad spectrum of presenting issues, including anxiety, stress, financial hardship and housing concerns, as well as more complex situations involving self-harm, suicidal thoughts, domestic abuse and sexual violence. You will be skilled at balancing compassionate support with appropriate risk assessment, safeguarding and signposting to internal and external services where required.
Emotional resilience and professional curiosity are key. We actively encourage the use of supervision, peer support and self-care to ensure staff feel supported in undertaking this important work.
Joining our team means becoming part of a supportive, collaborative and knowledgeable environment. You will work closely with colleagues across Student Services and the wider University to strengthen support pathways, enhance the student experience and contribute to a culture of wellbeing and inclusion.
We are committed to the ongoing development of our staff and offer a wide range of training and professional development opportunities to help you grow your expertise and confidence in supporting students.
Please note, this is a part time position working 30 hours per week. Hours/working pattern to be agreed upon appointment.
We encourage applications from a diverse range of applicants.
