Taking Teaching Further & Additional Incentives

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Student Progress Development Tutor who can be a real change maker within our college's Health Department.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in shaping learners' journeys, supporting them to overcome barriers, build confidence and achieve their full potential. By forming strong, supportive relationships with students, staff and external partners, the tutor will contribute to a positive, aspirational environment where every health learner feels valued, motivated and empowered to succeed.

About the Role

We are currently seeking a motivated and passionate Student Progression and Development Tutor to join our Health team at Sunderland College, Bede Campus. This role has been created to support the continued growth of our Health provision, which includes programmes of study preparing learners for careers in nursing, midwifery, allied health professions and wider health and social care sectors. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting our students' progress and personal development, helping them to overcome challenges, build confidence and achieve their full potential. As part of our vibrant and ambitious Health team, you will contribute to creating an inclusive, aspirational learning environment where every learner can thrive.

Role Responsibilities

To support the ongoing pastoral care, personal development and academic excellence in our health dept, we are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Student Progress & Development Tutor, who is passionate about supporting students to develop the essential skills for progression to higher education and the workplace.

The post holder will be a key member of a collaborative team that focusses on providing an excellent learner experience. You will be committed to working closely with curriculum and pastoral staff to support the development and wellbeing of students, helping them improve their learning skills and achieve their personal targets.

Qualifications
  • Educational qualification at Level 3 or above
  • Minimum Level 2 Maths and English qualification
  • Working with young people and/or adults in both 1:1 and group situations
  • An understanding of the issues and barriers that relate to learners and thus impact their education and personal wellbeing
  • Ability to set, monitor and review individual SMART targets with students
