Key ResponsibilitiesThe Student Experience Officer - Enrichment (SEO) is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the holistic student experience within the college. They will work closely with various curriculum areas and external student organizations to develop initiatives that promote student enhancement, act as an advocate for students, address their concerns, provide guidance, and improve the overall student experience. They will develop and implement the College's Student Experience Strategy, including the calendar of events, and maintain a highly visible presence across all curriculum areas, encouraging, supporting, and leading by example to inspire responsibility and community.
- Work with the Student Experience Manager to develop, coordinate, and supervise a college-wide calendar of events to raise aspirations and enhance the student experience of learners.
- Provide a range of activities throughout the learner journey from enrolment through to supporting progression, including 1:1 sessions, group work, workshops, and events planned through a central calendar of events which acknowledges national and international themes, days, weeks, and college events.
- Collaboratively develop, coordinate, and support a programme of cross-college student experience activities to develop learners' interpersonal skills, such as focus weeks, learner voice events, focus groups, and PACE sessions.
- Review the impact of all activities to ensure they embed Gatsby Benchmarks, positively impact student experience at HHC, and use the six strands of the CDI framework and the Compass evaluation tool to evaluate activities and shape the Student Experience Strategy. Draft and create an annual report on Student Experience for SLT and Governors.
- Work with Curriculum Managers and Personal Development Tutors to monitor and review extra-curricular activities that develop learners' skills and abilities, such as the Duke of Edinburgh award, and liaise with external partners.
- Identify barriers to participation, support needs, safeguarding and welfare concerns and work with the Safeguarding and Welfare team to provide support.
- Assist with general learner activities including open evenings and enrolments, support wider college teams as required, and undertake training and CPD for the role.
- Perform other duties of a similar level of responsibility as required.
- Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience (A level or equivalent)
- GCSE English and Maths or equivalent
- Level 2 IT qualification or willingness to pursue one
- Level 3 Preparing to Teach qualification
- Previous work with young people or adults.
- Able to interact positively with young people and adults.
- Ability to use IT to a high level of competence.
- Ability to communicate, negotiate, and work effectively with internal and external partners.
- Ability to think creatively and introduce new concepts, themes, and fundraising activities for learners.
- Ability to keep and evaluate records and statistical data.
- Ability to work towards targets and across the college, including both campuses.
- Strong teamwork, leadership, enthusiasm, and motivation to encourage participation in events and ideas.
- Ability to work unsupervised, manage own time and priorities, and be well organized and self motivated.
- Flexibility and willingness to try out new ideas.
- Experience coordinating Duke of Edinburgh awards and volunteering opportunities.
- Experience and understanding of the Further Education sector.
- Experience working with mixed ages, cultures and abilities.
- Experience overseeing/monitoring a budget and building costings for events.
- Intermediate use of Microsoft applications.
- Ability to use college systems to generate information and improve efficiency.
