Structural Fabrication Prepper

Responsibilities

• Steel preparation: clean, key, and seal steel units to the highest standard.
• Material preparation: use power tools to fettle, deburr, and smooth raw metal edges.
• Marking and drilling: read engineering drawings to accurately mark dimensions and drill holes for bolting.
• Steel cleaning: wash down, degrease, and mask steelwork to ensure primers and protective coatings adhere perfectly.
• General fabrication support: assist fabricator welders with moving heavy components, manual labor, and maintain a tidy workshop floor.
• Quality control: inspect completed work to ensure there are no defects and that the highest quality standards are met.
• PPE compliance: always wear appropriate PPE to maintain a safe working environment.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within a sheet metal or industrial environment.
• Good understanding of ISO9001 and adherence to all Wiltech Ltd policies and procedures.
• Proficiency in using a range of tools and equipment for metal preparation.
• Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for quality control and defect identification.
• Ability to work efficiently while maintaining productivity without compromising quality.
• Comfortable using PPE in compliance with safety standards.
• Strong communication skills to update team leaders on progress and potential issues.
