Role Summary and Impact

The Strategy group at Essence is focused on moving the discipline forward into a new era of insights and business solutions. You'll find all of the usual Strategy responsibilities apply: inspiring and applying audience, market and product insights to our clients objectives; creating robust comms strategies and tactics; and working with our internal teams and partner agencies to present the best and most interesting ideas. More specifically, we're re-engineering Essence's unrivalled expertise in digital media, and applying it to the full communications mix - becoming the agents of growth and differentiation for new era marketers.

We puzzle over new data sets, new ways to design creative assets, new testing structures, and new ad products, and how all this can be configured to grow our client's business. It's largely new, unknown and just waiting for us to figure it out.

Day to day, you're operating as a strategic point of development for specific campaigns, and will be moving into a lead strategy role on certain clients, as well as supporting new business efforts. You will be formulating insights, brainstorming new ideas and reviewing data with serious rigour. You will be working with the Planning and Analytics teams to ensure your strategic direction is followed through to implementation and that it is being evaluated rigorously and appropriately.

  • Proven experience in relevant agencies and organisations (agency / client / media owner)
  • Prior experience in Strategy desired
  • Prior experience working in or across markets
  • Strong public speaking skills and confidence in client meetings
  • Collaborative practices at the heart of your way of working
  • Strong writing skills
  • Proven history of gathering data for insights
  • An understanding of (digital) media planning
  • Working knowledge of Strategy tools; TGI, GWI, Mintel, etc.
  • The desire to go the extra mile/be creative in finding new ideas
  • An idea for where you think the industry is going
