Job Description

23 WHO?

23red is a purpose-driven creative agency. We develop brands and campaigns that change behaviour for the better and have a positive impact on people's lives.

Whether it's tackling climate change, fighting inequality or making higher education accessible to all, we take pride in developing brands and campaigns that make a real difference to society.

We are experts in crafting campaigns that drive action and delivering them through owned and earned channels, frequently working through the trusted voices of media, partners or influencers.

Our people are motivated by the impact of our work and we have clear values, each underpinned by a set of behaviours: Collaborative, Curious, Creative and Clever.

We're part of Capgemini Invent globally, aligned to Frog in the United Kingdom - and whilst we operate as a separate brand, we have the benefit of being part of a network.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

As strategist you'll work in a growing team that is sought after and valued within the wider business.

Working alongside account teams, creatives, and specialists in PR and social you'll contribute thinking for projects and pitches to ensure the work we create changes behaviour for the better through the power of creativity, insight and rigour.

One day, you could be analysing research or client data and turning it into a compelling creative brief. The next, you could be helping write the story of a campaign for a pitch response or designing a questionnaire to test creative work with our audience.

This is a fast-paced role, with varied briefs and challenges and scope for growth in many different directions.

The strategy team itself comes from wide-ranging backgrounds with experience across brand and creative strategy, behavioural science, media strategy, qualitative research to name a few. We don't believe there is single 'school' of strategy; we hire to expand on our existing skillsets with the ambition of creating a team that can turn its hand (or brain) to any of the varied challenges that come across our desks. As a team, we're generous with our time and thinking and champion each other's strengths and superpowers; as well as knowing when to draw on expertise from those with different skills.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • We want a strategist with a passion for earning attention and fame through creativity
  • While we're an agency driven by changing behaviour for the better it's vital that creativity is the reason you get up in the morning (and the thing that keeps you awake at night!)
  • We want someone passionate about applying that creativity to the challenges and briefs we work on - all of which sit in the space of public good, charity and government/policy
  • Not all behaviour change briefs are glamorous but they all bring challenges which mean a creative mindset and passion for problem solving is essential
  • Skills wise, you might be a social or content strategist looking for a new challenge or be an integrated strategist with a passion for PR and earned
  • We are often faced with the challenge of low/no budgets but need to generate outsize impact and so it's important you can demonstrate your entrepreneurial mindset
  • Someone who loves using and building their toolbox of ways to create change - from the latest research in applied behaviour change, to being a wizard with AI, harnessing culture and trends

WHAT WE'RE NOT:

  • Applied creative marketing strategy is core to this role, we are not looking for someone who lives in the world of consultancy or behaviour change theory
  • Similarly, we are not hiring for someone who just has a passion for 'doing good'

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide strategic and planning input to client and new business projects
  • Conduct research and gather insight, looking at our clients, their audiences and their categories, and simplifying information quickly
  • Analyse and manipulate data and insight to understand topics and identify insights and opportunities
  • Develop insight-based strategies, creative propositions and campaign plans
  • Bring behaviour change expertise to every project
  • Work closely with creative colleagues to inspire and guide them to ensure best possible creative solutions
  • Secure client buy-in with clear, concise, well-articulated presentations and documents
  • Development of evaluation frameworks and preparation and delivery of campaign evaluations
  • Using knowledge of evaluation and research methodology, commission research and conduct qualitative research

CORE COMPETENCIES:

  • Strategic thinking: the ability to break down an audience behaviour or client problem, identify the key factors, and propose how it might be solved or changed.
  • Research, data and insight: a grasp and application of the role of insight when developing comms campaigns, and how it can be gained from qual and quant sources. Knowledge and understanding of how the AI toolbox and tech can be used to fuel and power our strategies, briefs and output
  • Creative storytelling and inspiration: The ability to share briefs and insights in a compelling and inspiring manner to motivate and inspire/stimulate creative output
  • Passion for and knowledge of content: Engagement and understanding of how brands and content are responding to culture beyond traditional campaigns - and what good looks like in these spaces. Knowledge of different platform trends and best in class content
  • Communication skills: communicating clearly, concisely and in an engaging way in writing and in face to face presentations. The ability to listen and incorporate the views of others.
  • Organisation and relationships: Manage time efficiently and prioritise work effectively, managing others' expectations and meeting deadlines.
