Stop Smoking Advisor
Salary £33,400
Location South East London
Contract type Fixed Term
Weekly hours Mon-Fri, 9:00-17:00
The vacancy
Your day might start with visiting a resident in their home to help them take the first steps on their stop smoking journey. Later, you could be hosting a drop-in advice session at a community wellbeing hub, before meeting with local partners from the NHS or council to strengthen referral pathways. Every day is different-but each one brings the chance to empower someone to improve their health and wellbeing.
As a Stop Smoking Advisor, you'll be delivering proactive, person-centred support to residents who want to quit smoking. You'll provide tailored, trauma-informed advice in the places our residents feel most comfortable-whether that's in their home, in the community, or at local wellbeing hubs. You'll work closely with them to understand their wider wellbeing needs and create an action plan to help them feel more in control, more connected, and more confident in managing their health.
This is an outreach-based role, and you'll be an active presence across Thamesmead, working in partnership with public health teams in Greenwich and Bexley, as well as local voluntary and health services. You'll also support colleagues by delivering training and contributing to a joined-up approach across our wellbeing services.
We're looking for someone who's passionate about community health, confident in engaging people in open and honest conversations, and motivated to support those in vulnerable or complex circumstances.
This is a full-time, 12-month fixed term contract.
To be successful in this role, you're:
-
In possession of a minimum Level 2 qualification in Stop Smoking, or willing to complete this.
-
Experienced in delivering frontline wellbeing, health, or stop smoking support in community or outreach settings.
-
Experience of working in social housing or working in various advisory sectors.
-
Able to manage a varied caseload and keep accurate, high-quality records using systems like Quit Manager and CRMs.
-
A strong communicator, with the ability to explain information clearly and build trust with residents and partners.
-
Curious and compassionate-you take a holistic view of people's needs and thrive on connecting them to the right support.
-
Comfortable working independently, while contributing positively to a wider team effort.
-
Confident working with health data and outcomes, including carbon monoxide (CO) monitoring.
Here are just a few of the benefits of working at Peabody:
-
30 days' annual holiday, plus bank holidays

two additional paid volunteering days each year
-
