Sterile Services and Decontamination Lead

The closing date is 17 December 2025

To be responsible for the Sterilisation and Decontamination Services for Hampshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. In line with National guidelines and be accountable for, the implementation of all statutory and regulatory requirements, introducing, implementing and managing work standards and practices that are accredited to European Standards across Andover, Basingstoke and Winchester sites.

To provide advice to managers on the compliance of their equipment and decontamination processes relating to current standards.

To provide advice, innovative professional leadership and guidance to the Trust on the strategic issues relating to the management of TSSU and Trust wide decontamination including endoscopy.

To act as an expert working as a resource for all staff within the Trust.

Main duties of the job

To act as an expert for the Trust demonstrating in depth knowledge of decontamination including endoscopy decontamination.

To take the lead in the setting, delivery, monitoring and reporting of quality standards within Sterile Services.

To lead the strategic management of decontamination services for Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, in line with National guidelines and be responsible for the implantation of all statutory and regulatory requirements, introducing, implementing and managing work standards and practices that are accredited to European Standards BS.EN ISO 13485:2016 MEDICAL Devices Directive 93/42/EEC.

Person Specification Training & Qualifications
  • Full member of the IDSc
  • CSC membership
  • Internal Auditors course
  • BSG member
  • Assessor award
  • Hold a recognised teaching certificate or be willing to undertake one
Experience & Knowledge
  • 3 years experience in a Sterile Service management role
  • Understanding of the requirements of managing a quality system
  • Quality Assurance Audit
  • Health and Safety qualification
Skills & Ability
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Competence in appraising, mentoring and motivating staff
  • Effective and professional leadership skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary groups
  • Ability to meet deadlines
