SHAPE THE FUTURE OF PRIVACY WITH USERCENTRICS

Usercentrics is a global leader in the field of consent management platforms (CMP). We follow our company vision to build a world where user privacy enables a thriving digital ecosystem. Our mission is to provide privacy solutions that empower organizations to embrace data privacy while building trust with their users through freedom of choice. With our product, businesses can collect, manage and document user consents on websites and apps, and achieve full compliance in accordance with global privacy regulations while facilitating high consent rates and building trust with their customers.

We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer with expert level knowledge of Google Tag Manager (GTM) and Server Side GTM (sGTM), including the creation of custom templates, clients, tags, and end to end event flows. You will architect and build our server side tagging product, improve template ecosystems, and ensure high performance, privacy aligned event delivery.

This role is ideal for someone who understands the internals of GTM/sGTM, the sandboxed JavaScript environment, and how to design scalable tagging infrastructures on modern cloud platforms.

Your Tasks
  • Design, implement and scale our server side GTM hosting platform, including container orchestration and runtime optimizations.
  • Build advanced GTM and sGTM templates (clients, tags, variables), including sandboxed JavaScript logic, permissions, and data transformations.
  • Design event ingestion workflows, transformation layers, and commerce analytics mappings (GA4 eCommerce, Measurement Protocol, etc.).
  • Implement and optimize server side data routing, caching, and identity management.
  • Integrate with external APIs (GA4, Ads, third party vendors) to support complex tracking setups.
  • Lead complex technical initiatives that span across product and infra boundaries.
You Bring
  • 5+ years of engineering experience, ideally with strong backend exposure.
  • Deep hands on expertise with GTM and sGTM, including: Client templates, Tag templates, Variable templates, Permissions & sandboxed script restrictions.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript, Node.js, and TypeScript.
  • Solid grounding in API/service design & security.
  • Strong understanding of GA4, e commerce schemas, Measurement Protocol, and cross platform data mapping.
  • Experience with CDNs (e.g. Cloudflare, Akamai, GCP) for caching, edge execution, and traffic routing.
  • Hands on experience with cloud native infrastructure (GCP is a plus).
  • Ability to lead system design discussions and influence architectural direction.
Nice to Have
  • Experience running Kubernetes clusters and container based tagging pipelines.
  • Background from web analytics, digital measurement, or marketing engineering.
  • Understanding of consent management, privacy enforcement, and compliance aware data flows.
  • Experience integrating with Meta, TikTok, or other ads platforms.
