Staff Nurse - Medical Assessment Unit 
Permanent Full Time
Responsibilities- Provide safe, high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients in the Medical Assessment Unit.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Monitor patients' conditions, administer medications and treatments, and promptly report any changes.
- Work collaboratively with consultants, physicians, nurses, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure timely patient assessment and treatment.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with NMBI and hospital standards.
- Educate and support patients and their families regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge care.
- Prioritize and manage the care of acutely ill patients in a fast-paced assessment environment.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control, medication safety, and health and safety policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and risk management activities.
- Supervise, support, and mentor junior nursing staff and students where appropriate.
- Maintain professional competence through continuing professional development (CPD) and mandatory training.
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centred care while upholding patient dignity, confidentiality, and professional ethics.
- Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
- Minimum 3 years' post-registration experience in an acute care setting.
- Experience in a Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) or a similar department is desirable.
- ACLS certification is preferred; candidates must be willing to obtain certification if not already certified.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to deliver exceptional, high-quality, patient-centred care.
- Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in cannulation and venepuncture is desirable, or willingness to acquire these skills.
