Job Description

We are currently hiring Staff Nurses for nursing homes in Limerick.

Hours: 40.25 hours per week

Shifts: Day (8:00 AM - 8:00 PM) and Night (8:00 PM - 8:00 AM)

Responsibilities
  • Manage a daily caseload of patients, ensuring comprehensive assessment, care planning, and accurate documentation.
  • Deliver high-quality nursing care, including wound management, skin assessments, and care for medical, surgical, and post-operative patients.
  • Monitor and maintain patients' hydration, nutrition, fluid balance, and intake/output records.
  • Support patients with activities of daily living while promoting dignity, privacy, respect, and individuality.
  • Administer medications safely via various routes (PO, IV, PR, PEG, NG) in line with policies and best practices.
  • Recognise and respond to deteriorating patients using INEWS and manage infection prevention and control (IPC) precautions effectively.
  • Collaborate and communicate with families and the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure continuity of care from admission through to discharge planning.
  • Participate in incident management, quality care metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with HIQA standards, infection control practices (including hand hygiene), and all nursing policies and procedures.
  • Maintain professional standards in line with An Bord Altranais Code of Professional Conduct and ensure safe management, control, and administration of medications.
Requirements
  • Registered General Nurse with current registration on the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Post-registration qualification in caring for people with dementia.
  • Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development (CPD).
  • Knowledge of healthcare systems, organisation of services, and national/international trends.
  • Demonstrates professionalism in applying nursing theory to daily clinical practice.
  • Strong critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Proven experience in effectively managing a patient caseload.
  • Ability to access and apply both theoretical and technical knowledge in practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or experience.
  • Competent in intravenous (IV) therapy and administration.
