Job Description
Main duties of the job

As a Band 5 Staff Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering safe, effective and person centred care to patients throughout their surgical journey, from admission through to discharge. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care, ensuring excellent clinical outcomes and a positive patient experience.

You will:

  • Deliver high standards of individualised nursing care in line with professional, clinical and organisational standards and care for patients undergoing elective and emergency surgical procedures.
  • Support enhanced recovery pathways and discharge planning; work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, patients and families.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement and service development.
  • Supervise and support nursing associates, healthcare support workers and students.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and effective communication.

  • Evidence of a good standard of written English appropriate to the role

  • Hold the necessary mandatory professional/clinical registration
