Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Registered Nurse to join our team on the Respiratory High Dependency Unit within the medicine care group, at Southampton General Hospital. Do you have previous HDU / critical care experience? this maybe the role for you.

RHDU team care for patients with a variety of acute respiratory conditions, requiring non-invasive ventilator support. The department is purpose built with substantial side rooms and facilities. We are very proud of the outstanding care that we provide to our patients and are looking for a like-minded individual with a strong focus on patient care, proven leadership skills and the ability to work inter professionally.

Job responsibilities

As a Staff Nurse you will be working alongside a dedicated and supportive team and form an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team in providing excellent high-quality care to our patients.

In this role you will also work in conjunction with fellow staff nurses, to provide supervision to members of the team and participating in both formal and informal teaching.

We are looking for nurses who have a strong patient focus and are eager to develop clinical skills. You will be offered opportunities to develop both clinically and professionally within a supportive environment.

Person Specification Qualifications, knowledge and experience
  • Qualified Nurse (Degree/Diploma)
  • Registered nurse on appropriate part of the register
  • Knowledge of current issues within acute Health Service
  • Understanding of personal accountability
  • Knowledge of own role within the team
  • Provide evidence of teaching and supporting learners in practice in the role of practice supervisor
  • Awareness of evidence-based practice
  • Awareness of responsibilities for management of infection control
  • Evidence of on going personal development
  • Able to use initiative
  • Evidence of recent study
  • Previous experience/qualification in relevant specialty
  • Teaching experience
