Job Description

This post will mainly be based at the QEUH renal outpatient clinic but there will be occasions when the post holder will be expected to cover clinics at the New Stobhill ACH and also undertake home visits.

The units at both the QEUH and Stobhill are very friendly and welcoming outpatient areas where staff support patients throughout their renal journey, from end stage kidney disease as they prepare and commence dialysis treatment, work up for transplantation and follow up during the acute immediate post-kidney transplant period. Along with providing trained nursing support with the renal outpatient clinics, the post holder will also be expected to support the training and undertake the nursing care for patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis treatment both within the outpatient clinic and at home

Previous peritoneal dialysis experience is preferable, but not essential, as teaching and training will be provided, the post is therefore an excellent opportunity to develop new nursing skills within a friendly outpatient environment. Trainees are provided with the support of a mentor and detailed training plan and materials.

You will work within the nursing and multi professional team to ensure a high standard of care to patients throughout their renal journey and competently perform the necessary technical aspects of care. You will assess patient needs - plan, Vacancy Request Form (VRF) Approved March 2025 Page 3 of 8 implement and evaluate evidence-based programs of care for patients with various renal conditions, in collaboration with the wider renal team.

You will provide support to patients and their carers as they navigate from pre dialysis, undergo dialysis treatments and or undergo kidney transplantation.

It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurse with the NMC and evidence of continuing professional development is desirable. A car driver is essential for this role.
