Job Purpose: Staff Nurses (Potel Ward) are responsible for providing a high standard of nursing care to patients, the application of the nursing process and the scientific knowledge, judgement and technical skills of professional nursing in delivering care to patient population of Orthopaedic and Acute Care post-Surgery. Ideal Candidate: Ability to work as part of a team providing a quality servicePersonally, and professionally accountable for patient careRGN qualification and NMBI registrationExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsFlexible approach to work patterns as the post holder will be required to rotate between days and nights Essential Qualifications: Be registered, or be eligible for registration, in the General Nurse Division of the Register of Nurses kept by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland NMBI Have 1/ 2 years nursing experience post-registration preferably in Orthopaedic/ Surgical Nursing. Experience & Responsibility: Carries out nursing care and treatments to the highest possible standard according to agreed Policies, Procedures and Guidelines.Participate in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care based on the nursing process approach and maintains appropriate records. Implements discharge planning based on patient care needsAdminister medicines, IV drugs, blood/blood products and controlled drugs according to agreed policies. Records and monitors patients post administration according to policy and reports any adverse events or medication errorsAdheres to Best Practice Guidelines in controlling infection and reports/manage infections as dictated by policy and work closely with Infection Control Nurse. Handles and correctly disposes of medical waste as per hospital policy.
