This is an excellent opportunity for a RGN/Operating Department Practitioner (diploma level) to join a friendly, dynamic and supportive team of Recovery Nurses and ODPs.

Whether looking for a change of direction or to broaden your skills and experience working within all areas of Anaesthetic Theatre Recovery, you will be supported to be the best Nurse/ODP you can be.

You will be working with surgical patients of all ages, including children, who require one to one holistic care from an unconscious anaesthetic state through to discharge to the ward.

You will be required to rotate through Theatre Recovery areas at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Bassetlaw District General and Montagu Hospital at Mexborough on a rotational days and night's basis.

Experience is desirable but not essential as a full comprehensive induction programme is available.

Main duties of the job

To provide the highest standard of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised holistic patient care in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, across designated sites. Caring for conscious and unconscious adults and children who are highly dependent over a 24-hour period (24 hours DRI Main Theatres Only). To mentor, support and supervise new and junior members of staff, acting as a role model for best practice and teamwork.

The post holder may be required to undertake the responsibility of the line Manager in his/her absence following the achievement of the required knowledge and skills. This will be obtained through the knowledge and skills framework and through the 'Personal/Professional Development Appraisal' system.

Person Specification Personal Attributes & Skills
  • Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills with multi-disciplinary team/client/relatives
  • Demonstrate a caring manner with an understanding disposition, be interested and committed to caring for people from any type of cultural and environmental background or illness.
  • Able to accommodate the demands of the post with flexible working as required and good attendance
  • Precise and methodical in working practice and able to work under own initiative

Knowledge & Experience
  • Recent work experience during training/post qualifying in area
  • Provide evidence of supervision of students/nurses e.g preceptorship, Education, mentorship.
Qualifications & Training
  • RGN with current NMC registration or OPD with HPCP registration
  • Degree or Diploma in nursing or Operating Department Practice
  • Up-to-date knowledge of professional issues

  • Ability and willingness to undertake further education in recovery/critical care skills.
