Staff Nurse - Endoscopy Unit

Overview

The Endoscopy Unit at Mercy University Hospital (MUH) is a rapidly expanding diagnostic and therapeutic gastroenterology service. The unit performs approximately 3,500 endoscopic procedures per annum, including Colonoscopy, Gastroscopy, ERCP, diagnostic and therapeutic EUS, EMR, RFA, luminal stenting, and colon cancer screening. It is a tertiary referral service and provides a nationwide endoscopic service.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care of assigned patients.
• Practice nursing in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct as established by the Nursing Board and professional guidelines.
• Ensure patients are cared for in the optimum clinical environment, adhering to all nursing and hospital wide policies and guidelines.
• Share professional knowledge and skills with colleagues.

Eligibility Criteria

• Registered or eligible for registration in the general nurse division of the register of nurses kept by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland.
• Experience in the acute hospital environment within the last three years is essential.
• Recent relevant experience and education in an endoscopy specialist area is desirable.
