As a Band 5 Staff Nurse in Endoscopy, applicants must hold an active NMC registration and have the essential knowledge, skills, and experience required to practise safely within an Endoscopy environment.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for qualified Registered Nurses to join our Endoscopy team on the band 5 at Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

The post holder will be assigned to work in the Endoscopy Unit and in an Endoscopy Treatment unit this is on a Rotational basis between St Helens and Whiston Hospitals.

The Endoscopy unit requires the post holder to work shifts on a 7-day working week, the shift patterns are 8-4, 8.30-16.30, 10-6 and 12.30-20.30 these can be subject to change to ensure they maintain the service needs

We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic, and dedicated individuals with a flexible approach to working who are able to demonstrate good organisational and communication skills along with a commitment to a quality patient focused service.

Please note that it is a requirement of the application process that candidates are required to attend Whiston Hospital in-person for their interview as part of the recruitment event.

Main duties of the job
  • To participate effectively in the formulation and implementation of client individualised care
  • To be able to participate in the Undertaking of Research, Outreach and Clinical audits as directed by the Unit manager to ensure maintaining and improving the delivery of Service to the clients attending for procedures.
  • To promote a concise and effective Communication with the service users/clients and ward nurses and staff within the hospital as per Trust and Unit policies.
  • To ensure that all equipment in the Endoscopy Unit is maintained safe and functional working order.
  • To be able to contribute efficiently in the setting and implementation of effective patient care and standard of monitoring system in the Endoscopy Unit

  • 1st Level Registered Nurse (degree/diploma)
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Knowledge and Experience
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of NMC professional standards for practice contained within the code
  • Experience of working in a clinical environment
  • Understand requirements for NMC professional Revalidation
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
