SSD Assistant

Spire Clare Park Hospital, a modern elective hospital in Farnham rated "Good" by the CQC, invites applications for a temporary, part-time SSD Assistant (22 hrs/week) to join their Sterile Services Department.

Responsibilities

• Receiving, sorting, inspecting, cleaning, disinfecting, assembling, preparing, sterilizing, storing and issuing reusable surgical instruments and equipment under general supervision.
• Ensuring theatre and endoscopy instrumentation and equipment are correct and ready for use to assist the multidisciplinary theatre team and provide exemplary care.
• Undertake routine tasks related to personal health and well-being.
• Produce and communicate information and knowledge.
• Contribute to own personal development.
• Maintain own and others' health, safety and security.

Qualifications

• Certificate in Decontamination or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent TVQ Level 1 & 2) in Decontamination.
• City & Guilds certificates in Decontamination / Endoscopy.
• Self-motivated and able to work alone and in teams.
• Basic awareness of health, safety and hygiene.
• English language capability IELTS 7.0 or equivalent.
• Knowledge of principles of infection control, fundamentals of microbiology and aseptic technique.
• Knowledge of SSD machinery, basic instruments and equipment, sterile packing techniques, ISO standards.
• Ability to train and supervise Level I staff in all areas.
