The Job Profile

Reporting to the HR Director, the HR Business Partner will provide both strategic and operational HR support, partnering closely with key stakeholders while overseeing day-to-day HR activity across their business areas. This is a generalist role within a small, collaborative UK team in a fast-paced environment, working closely with colleagues in the US HR team.

The Job Role

The HR Business Partner will deliver a broad range of operational HR activities, acting as the primary HR partner for the Children's Publishing, Finance and Operations, and Facilities teams. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, creating and updating policy and procedures, working on employee relations cases including performance management processes, leading on recruitment campaigns, assisting in the delivery of compensation and benefits programmes, learning and development, HR reporting and insights, working effectively with the HR systems contributing to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, along with responding to day-to-day HR queries. The role will also contribute to organisational and cultural change, supporting leaders and teams through periods of transition.

The Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be CIPD qualified, with a strong understanding of the HR Business Partnering model and the ability to quickly build credibility in a fixed-term role. You will bring excellent organisational and communication skills, alongside a sound knowledge of UK employment legislation and its practical application.

A proactive and collaborative approach is essential, along with the ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities. You will have strong problem-solving skills and a client-focused mindset, with the confidence to support and coach line managers through change. You will handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism, demonstrating sound judgement, integrity, and a high level of confidentiality at all times.
