Job Description

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Sports Coach/Teacher to join our passionate Sports Department on a part time basis (0.4 FTE). This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a genuine passion for sport and young people to help inspire pupils of all abilities to develop confidence, teamwork and a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity.

The successful candidate will have expertise in at least one of Walhampton's major sports: cricket, netball, hockey, rugby or football. Whether you are an experienced coach, teacher or sports professional looking to develop your career in education, we would love to hear from you.

About the role

The Sports Coach/Teacher will play an important role within the Sports Department, teaching and coaching pupils from Nursery to Year 8 across PE, Games and co curricular sport. The role includes supporting fixtures, tournaments and sports tours, promoting a "sport for all" ethos while also helping talented pupils to reach elite levels.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Sport and wider department to deliver engaging, inclusive and high quality sporting opportunities throughout the school.

What You Will Do
  • Teach PE and Games to pupils from Nursery to Year 8.
  • Coach and support pupils across a range of sports and activities.
  • Help plan and deliver engaging and differentiated PE and Games lessons.
  • Support fixtures, tournaments, sports tours and sporting events throughout the year.
  • Promote participation, teamwork and sporting excellence across the school.
  • Encourage and support pupils of all abilities, including those with SEND.
  • Monitor and maintain sports facilities and equipment to ensure high standards of safety and presentation.
  • Support the Sports Scholarship programme and wider athletic development initiatives.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school community.
What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organised and passionate about sport and education. The successful candidate will be a positive role model with excellent communication skills and the ability to inspire and motivate young people.

Essential
  • Coaching qualifications and/or experience in one or more major sports including cricket, netball, hockey, rugby or football.
  • Experience coaching or working with children and young people.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • A positive and flexible approach to teamwork.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • A passion for both participation sport and elite sporting development.
Desirable
  • Previous experience working in a school environment.
  • Experience teaching PE or Games across a range of age groups.
  • Knowledge of inclusive sporting practices and supporting pupils with SEND.
  • Experience supporting fixtures, tournaments or sports tours.
