Job Description

Windy Nook Primary is a welcoming and inclusive primary school committed to providing a high quality education for all pupils. The children, staff and governors are looking to appoint a qualified and experienced Sports Coach or Teaching Assistant (with a strong interest in sports) to work with classes across the school supporting the development of sport and PE. The role will include working with a range of groups and whole classes, developing children's skills, knowledge and positive attitudes through a range of sports and physical education opportunities. The successful candidate will also be required to teach model lessons, to ensure continuous high quality professional development in PE for all staff. Additionally, the role will include the provision and management of a range of before and after school sports opportunities and clubs.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Holds a Level 2 Coaching qualification (or equivalent) and has knowledge of the PE National Curriculum.
  • Has high expectations of self and others and is passionate about encouraging all children, including those with additional needs, to achieve success in sport and school.
  • Has a commitment to working in partnership with staff, parents and the community to promote excellent learning opportunities for all.
  • Has drive, enthusiasm and a clear vision for excellence in sport and PE.
  • Is willing to complete professional development in a teaching assistant and sports role.
  • Has a caring and nurturing approach towards children to ensure all pupils achieve their very best.
  • Is motivated and uses initiative when necessary.
  • Has experience of working in a primary school setting, including working with children with additional needs.
  • Works very well as part of a team and is willing to participate fully in all aspects of school life.
  • Is able to relate well to children and adults, offering personal and social support to the wellbeing of key children and their families, attending relevant meetings.
  • Has good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE Maths and English C or above).
  • Is a caring and understanding person, with a good sense of humour, who is committed to supporting high standards and enjoyment of learning.
