Location: Manchester with flexible working.

Salary: £34,314 - £39,513 p.a., depending on skills and experience (salary to be at entry-level except in exceptional circumstances).

Hours: 37 hours per week

Overview

We are seeking to recruit an individual with purpose, passion and integrity to strengthen and champion good welfare and safeguarding standards and practice for clubs, youth and community groups and other organisations delivering all forms of movement, physical activity and sport.

Greater Manchester Moving is the Greater Manchester charity committed to changing lives by inspiring a healthier future in Greater Manchester through moving more, sport and physical activity. We play a strategic leadership role in support of the Greater Manchester wide movement for movement.

Responsibilities
  • Play a leading, supporting and connecting role to strengthen and champion good welfare and safeguarding standards and practice for clubs, youth and community groups and other organisations delivering all forms of movement, physical activity and sport. The role forms part of a national network of Sport Welfare Officers.
  • Contribute to developing a vision to build and foster relationships with and between people, communities and system partners to enable a whole-system approach to supporting the development of community networks, activities and opportunities to move more and tackle inequality.
  • Unite people from diverse backgrounds around a shared vision and work with others to help people connect, support and lead across sectors, organisations and communities to achieve the ten-year GM Moving in Action ambitions.
  • Join a high-performing Active Partnership team working with a network committed to making positive change through physical activity, sport and movement.
  • Support flexible working arrangements, including potential job shares, secondments and reduced hours as part of organisational policy.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Knowledge, skills and experience to play a leading, supporting and connecting role in welfare and safeguarding across clubs, youth and community groups and other organisations delivering movement, physical activity and sport.
  • Ability to work with diverse communities and stakeholders and to collaborate across sectors and partners.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as required.
Working arrangements

This is a full-time role (37 hours per week), with flexibility to consider job shares, secondments or reduced hours. Working days are predominantly Monday to Friday, with occasional evening/weekend work. Permanent office space is at the National Squash Centre in Manchester, with regular team and co-working days across Greater Manchester and blended homeworking.
