Speech Pathologist

Hunter Valley Private Hospital seeks an enthusiastic Speech Pathologist to join our Allied Health team on a permanent part-time basis. The caseload is predominantly neurological, along with a range of other medical conditions, with delivery of service in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. The successful candidate will become part of a dynamic and interdisciplinary Allied Health department, which seeks to provide our patients with high quality evidence based, consumer-centred care.

Hunter Valley Private Hospital is an 83 bed hospital. We provide a range of rehabilitation, surgical and medical services including palliative care and pain management. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to experience a varied clinical caseload across the acute and sub-acute setting

Position summary/Key Responsibilities:

Assessment and management of dysphagia & communication disorders

Provision of speech and language therapy for inpatient and day patient services (diagnoses of clients include neurological, general medical and surgical conditions)

Complete relevant documentation including the Functional Independent Measure (FIM)

Actively participate in case conference / progress meetings within the multi-disciplinary team

Bachelor of Speech Pathology

Previous clinical experience in adult Speech Pathology medical and/or rehabilitation setting

Eligibility for Speech Pathology Australia membership

Demonstrated high level of verbal and written communication skills

Flexible, positive approach to work

Demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently manage a caseload

Capacity to work as sole clinician

Demonstrate anunderstanding of, and commitment to quality processes, and the application of evidenced based practice within speech pathology.

Experience working within a multidisciplinary team

Demonstrated willingness to learn
