Job Description

We are recruiting an enthusiastic and motivated Band 4 Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join our Adult Speech and Swallowing Service in Leeds. This is a development role with a clear career pathway for individuals interested in becoming a Speech and Language Therapist. The post includes the opportunity to apply for a degree apprenticeship with the University of Sheffield, subject to meeting entry requirements: A Levels: ABB, BTEC Extended Diploma: DDD in a healthcare or science subject, or Access to HE Diploma: 45 Level 3 credits (36 Distinction, 9 Merit). Equivalent Level 3 qualifications will also be considered.

Main duties of the job
  • Support assessment and treatment of adults with communication and swallowing needs under qualified Speech and Language Therapists.
  • Implement therapy programmes, contribute to patient reviews, and support individuals to maximise communication and quality of life.
  • Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to high quality, patient centred care.
  • Travel independently across Leeds and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • A levels (ABB) or equivalent BTEC Extended Diploma: DDD in a healthcare or science subject, Access to HE Diploma: 45 Level 3 credits (36 Distinction, 9 Merit), or Equivalent Level 3 qualifications.
  • Compassionate, organised, motivated with excellent communication skills and genuine interest in developing a career in Speech and Language Therapy.
